In order to build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sub-center of the World Meteorological Center (Beijing) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Meteorological Technology Integration Innovation Platform to the standards of "world-class, China-leading, and Bay Area-characteristic," and under the guidance of the Guangzhou Municipal Meteorological Bureau and the Guangzhou Development District Management Committee, the Huangpu District Meteorological Bureau has carefully organized an international design competition for the project. A public competition notice was issued online to solicit high-level design teams with an international perspective to provide high-standard and high-quality design solutions for the project.

So far, the competition organizers have received applications from many renowned domestic and international design institutions. The design teams come from a wide range of regions, laying a solid foundation for high-level design for the project. Next, the competition organizers will conduct a qualification pre-screening process according to established rules and select the top 6 participating units to begin the design work.
